Fences is an interesting software of Stardock which helps you in arranging shortcuts and icons automatically on your desktop under different sections. If you wish to decorate your screen only, this is a completely free software. You can buy its paid version too if you want to use this app to its fullest features. This is available for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android as well.

This is one of the best apps for creating a clean and organized desktop. Users who are fond of having lots of shortcuts and icons on their screen would simply love this app. With this app, you can sort your icons into an organized clusters on your desktop. You can move gaming application into a section named game, small files into files and folders. You can also make a Recent section and put your recent files here in this section. It's simply awesome to use and search for any files on your desktop.

How to Install this app on your PC

Step 1: Go to the link provided at the last of this tutorial and select Try it Free. It will open a new window. Click on Download Now.

Step 2: Once the download is completed, open the installer and follow the instructions to install this app. 

Note: While installing, you are asked to choose between two options. Choose the left side option i.e. Just create a couple fences. A screenshot of the screen is shown below.
If you have an extra messy desktop, then you must opt for the right side option.

How To Use Fences

Using this app on your system is very simple if you are using the free version of this app. All you have to do is to right click anywhere on the screen. It will open the context menu. In the context menu, select customize Fences. This will open the Fences Window. Here, you can customize according to your own wish.
Here in the above screenshot, you can see there are many settings which you can adjust according to the way you want to look your screen. You can change its color by using appearances option. This app also allows you to create, label and adjust any fence. This is a user friendly app and for most of the time you don't even need any instruction.
