Facebook has launched a places directory recently so that its users could get to know about best hotels, restaurants, schools, malls, theaters, gyms, landmarks and many more things of any particular city in which they live.
All you have to do is to put down your city name in the search bar and it will give full details starting from restaurants, hotels, bars etc. They are also provided ranking based on the cumulative ranks provided by different users. Note that you can access any fb page of any place to check how many likes and comments it gets from users.
Again, you can also get details about that like its address, contact etc. This feature of fb is very useful when you are going to a new city. As the ratings and address had been done and written by human rather than some robot, it would be very easy to reach out there.
How to use this feature of fb
To use this feature, first go to this link. It will open a page like the below shown screenshot.
Here below the above shown screenshot, it suggests various places in your city if your automatic location is on. Put down the city name of yours or any city you want to visit in the blank with City name.
Clicking on any city will open up a new window with the name of restaurants, hotels, bars and many others on itself. It also shows the number of people who like this and those who check for that city. Scroll down to this page and you will get the list of different restaurants at one place. Similarly bars, public attractions, cafe, arts and many others kept together at one place. I had chosen for New Delhi, and there go for public attractions. Let's see what was shown in this case.
You can now see in the above screenshot, that each section consists of so many areas like here public attractions show all the places to visit. It should be noted that it only shows about the one which has a fb page otherwise it will show nothing. It shows the likes, stars which it gets out of five. It also shows you the contact number from where you can contact them easily.
Conclusion
There is no doubt that this is a great app and as people use Facebook frequently, it would be truly helpful for most of the people. However, We can't say that it will replace those searching apps which looks on your behalf to the streets and provide you basic information. As we seen above,this feature of Facebook is limited to city of any country. Again, it shows information about only those places which have a fb page.
